One other thing that makes them competitive is how they offer PRO right away - that is really nice and great benefit

Karen I agree with you - I think that the TE's - I hate all the pop ups and like you said all the interference that you get - framebreaks - too many extra offers and the list goes on and on - too much to look at instead of looking at the ad itself. Right now the text exchanges are sure offering lot of credits for us to keep our ads and banners out there - just seems like less work and better results.

Yes, Kenneth, I think they can compete against traffic exchanges. They meet different needs, so can co-exist. Pure personal opinion here, but I think traffic exchanges beat out safelists that allow only text messages because of the visual value. Text ad exchanges give you both! There are solo email messages that can be formatted in html, as well as html and text ads within the membership areas that provide credits for viewing.

It's easier to do a "quick promote" in text ad exchanges. No pesky approval process - post your ad and go! You can save ads you want to post regularly. You can post several times a day. It's easy to manage your advertising with text ad exchanges.

Just like with traffic exchanges, there are owners that do great things with the script and others who don't develop their sites to their potential. There are some that communicate regularly with members, offering special promo codes for credits.

As a "viewer", I like the text ad exchanges because there is less "interference" of gimmicks. Browsing in TEs has become a chore. I find that now I'm spending more time watching for special credit links that pop up from time to time than I am actually looking at the websites. If I'm "Super Surfing", it's work to keep up with the individual peculiarities of each program and pay any attention at all to the websites. So I must assume that folks viewing MY websites are similarly distracted. With the text ad exchanges, there is less distraction from the target website. The downside is the amount of email in your inbox!

The bottom line is that promoters must use a variety of methods to get eyes on their pages. Both traffic exchanges and text ad exchanges serve a purpose. Right now, the membership numbers in traffic exchanges far exceed the text ad exchanges, but who knows what's to come!
